Why we use Vegetable tanned leathers

Traditionally Vegetable tanned leathers were used widely, but with the need for cheaper processes during the nineteenth-century Chrome leathers were created, although when it comes to the environmental impact Chromium VI, a metal salt is considered a carcinogenic waste product and therefore cannot be recycled.  Vegetable tanned leathers are Chrome free and although a more expensive and longer process it is a more sustainable method of producing leather and in my opinion it also becomes more beautiful as it ages. We work with a traditional Vegetable leather tannery in Italy that have produced this type of leather for over fifty years, it can take up to four weeks to produce our leather but we think it is worth the wait....

Authenticity and Sustainability

An insight into what makes our Accessories Authentic and stand apart in a market saturated with similar products. We focus on traditional handcrafted skills, attention to details, design coupled with functionality whilst still giving a contemporary feel. Our Italian leather is vegetable tanned and chrome free, our linings are organic and some of the structural internal areas of our bags use recycled leather. Our design and 3D development process is in house so we can solve any technical issues before producing a sample. We are proud to work with skilled crafts people in Portugal that share our interest in working in a more sustainable method.
